Sylveline BOURION, For a generative grammar of duplication in Debussy's last melody cycles for voice and piano

The last melodies composed by Debussy between 1885 and 1913 form here the subject of a specific study concerning duplication. The goal is to set up the bases of a generative grammar of duplication, i.e. to account for all the aspects of the compositional process through a theoretical, concise but exhaustive system. This grammar consists in a set of rewriting and transformation rules which not only account for the cases listed, but also allows envisageing new ones.
